Mara Justine Competed on AGT, American Idol

In 2014, Mara auditioned for Season 9 of America’s Got Talent when she was just 11 years old. She performed “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” from Dreamgirls. The powerhouse audition impressed the judges, who gave her a standing ovation and sent her through with four “yes” votes.

Mara ended up making it all the way to the Season 9 Finals, where she performed “Perfect” by Pink. Unfortunately, there was a sound issue with her performance. Mara didn’t receive enough votes to make it into the Final 6.

However, Mara didn’t give up on her dream. In 2018, she auditioned for Season 16 of American Idol at age 15. She performed “Love on the Brain” by Rihanna, earning a standing ovation from the judges. The panel gave her a Golden Ticket to Hollywood.

Mara made it to the Top 14, where she sang “This Is Me” from The Greatest Showman. Unfortunately, she didn’t receive enough votes to move forward in the competition, and the judges didn’t choose to save her from elimination.

Now She’s Competing on The Voice Season 24

Now 21, Mara is competing on Season 24 of The Voice. For her audition, Mara performed “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” turning all four coaches’ chairs with her powerful voice. The coaches fought to get Mara on their team.

Ultimately, Mara chose to join John Legend’s team after the two of them teamed up for an impromptu duet of his song “All of Me.” For the Battles, Legend paired Mara up with Claudia B. She won the Battle, although Claudia was stolen by Niall Horan.

Mara moved on to the Knockouts, where she unfortunately lost to her opponent Kaylee Shimizu. Thankfully, both Horan and Gwen Stefani hit their buttons to steal Mara. Monday’s episode ended on a cliffhanger, as we don’t yet know whose team she chose to join. Either way, she’s headed to the live shows.
